About Us

Habib’s Kabob is owned and operated by Habib Rahimi and his family. Habib is originally from Iran and serves Persian (Iranian) food, the recipies of which have been passed on through generations. Below are a few explanations of our menu:

Kabob: ’Kabob’ is the Middle Eastern word for meat, chicken, or vegetables cooked over a fire. The meat is marinated and seasoned, then skewered and cooked over an open flame. Our kabob dishes are served as a combination of meat or chicken on top of a bed of Basmati rice.
Basmati Rice: A long-grain rice grown in the middle east. Basmati rice is known for having a nutty flavor and delicate scent and is very fluffy and light compared with other types of rice. Persians have perfected the art of cooking rice through a traditional style of boiling and steaming.
Sumac: This powdered spice is essential to Persian, and most Middle Eastern, cooking. Historically, sumac was used as a tart element in cooking prior to the introduction of the lemon. We use this spice to top our beef dishes, but it tastes great on just about all our meals! Be advised, this is not the same sumac that you will find growing in America. American sumac is poisonous and should not be consumed. Let's stick to the Persian version, shall we?
Saffron: Pound for pound, saffron is the most expensive spice available. These tiny threads are plucked from the stigmas of the purple crocus flower. Each flower only produces three threads of saffron, and these threads must be picked by hand. Fortunately, one only needs a small amount of saffron to produce its rich flavor and beautiful yellow color. Our rice is served with a light dusting of saffron on top.

About Iran

Iran is officially called the Islamic Republic of Iran and is located in central Asia on the northeastern shore of the Persian Gulf. The name Iran came into common use around 1935, prior to which the area was known as Persia. Though in politics, the country is referred to as Iran, both Iran and Persia are used interchangeably in a cultural context. Food is a fundamental part of Iranian life and culture--so please enjoy!
